Welcome

10 years ago, we launched Chamber Music | OC – an Orange County-based arts initiative dedicated to promoting the art of chamber music through performance, education, and community engagement. With overwhelming support from the Southern California community, the organization has grown into one of the most exciting arts entities in the classical music industry impacting thousands of lives every year through a portfolio of diverse program offerings. But like so many small businesses, we were not spared from the devastating effects of COVID-19; it altered all of our planned programming, and abruptly ended our concert season as we were preparing to present a new cross-disciplinary commission, Breaking the Silence, at the Irvine Barclay Theatre.

Despite these great challenges, our commitment to bringing world-class chamber music to Orange County never wavered. Hailed by the LA Times for “keeping classical music going” during the COVID-19 pandemic, our administration continued to think of ways to innovate and invest in new opportunities that would bring optimism and joy to our community. This planning culminated in August 2020 when we launched the Boundless Capital Campaign to support a bold new growth initiative: the acquisition and repurposing of a 4,000-square-foot commercial space in Lake Forest. 6 months later, CMOC HQ is complete and ready to welcome back our world-class guest artists, a new generation of Pre-College participants, and our audiences, whom we have missed so dearly.

We begin our 10-year anniversary season with a big announcement – that Chamber Music | OC has been named the 50th and final commissioning partner for the Kronos Quartet’s 50 for the Future project. This unique artistic initiative will provide unrivaled educational experience for our Pre-College participants, as well as performance collaborations that will cultivate new audiences for classical music. Another highlight is our 2022 concert debut at Walt Disney Concert Hall featuring world-class guest artists, our Ensemble-in-Residence, Trio Céleste, members of our Pre-College Faculty, and current participants and alumni from our nationally-recognized Pre-College Program. This performance will be an incredible finale to our season, and we can’t wait to fill the hall with our audiences and our music.

We invite you to join us for this year-long celebration that honors all that we’ve accomplished together. A 10-year anniversary is a big milestone for any arts organization, and we believe that together with your support, the best is yet to come. Happy birthday, CMOC!
